How to get there
Here is some advice on how to get to Ile de Re, and how to get around during the weekend!
Travel to la rochelle
By train, to La Rochelle TGV train station
The closest train station from Ile de Re is La Rochelle TGV train station.
There is a direct high speed train from Paris-Montparnasse to La Rochelle, in ~3h. Tickets will be available ~3 months in advance.
By plane to La Rochelle-Île de Ré airport
From Paris, Nice, Marseille, Lyon: there are directs flights, but very expensive. Better save the environment and take the train.
From London: there are direct flights between London and La Rochelle with RyanAir or EasyJet.
From the US: you must fly to Paris first, then go to La Rochelle by train(~3h) or by car (~5h).
By car
La Rochelle is a ~5h drive from Paris via the A10 highway, 2h from Bordeaux, and 8h from Lyon.

From the train station, two options to reach the island:
Take the bus
Local buses (Line 3/3E) connect La Rochelle train station and the island, and stop in most villages (Rivedoux, Sainte Marie, La Flotte, Saint Martin etc.). Schedules are coordinated with train arrival times. Tickets cost 2-4€, and it will take you ~1 hour to reach La Flotte.
Rent a car
Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt, Enterprise all have branches just outside the train station. Expect to pay 16€ to cross the bridge.
Get around on the island
By bike
Ile de Ré is great for biking: there are lots of flat bike paths. You can rent bikes almost anywhere.
Rent a car
You can rent a car for a very affordable price at the Leclerc supermarket in Saint-Martin.
Use the local shuttles
During the Summer, frequent and (mostly) free shuttles connect the several villages of the island.

After the church celebration
The wedding celebration will take place in la Rochelle: then we will need to drive to the island to go to the cocktail (~30 minutes drive).
If you don’t have a car: car pool!
If you have a car: please try to fill your seats as much as possible before leaving!
After the party
A shuttle will run between 2 and 5am from Fort de la Prée, to get you home safely.
